Mark!

Stereo Typing

This was going to be a post starting with "Oh geez I'm 21 and don't have a girlfriend within immediate groping distance, I'm going to die alone" but that didn't really pan out. So instead I will produce some discussion:

The new BNL album, Barenaked For The Holidays, opens with a wicked good rendition of Jingle Bells featuring Steven Page going from his best dour emotional voice to a more lively excited tone. In the midst of the chorus, he switches it up with this classic holiday rebranding:

Jingle Bells, Batman smells,
Robin laid an egg!
The Batmobile lost its wheel,
And the Joker got away!

Now, I think we can all agree that the first two lines are universally correct. But am I the only one who sang the last two as:

The Batmobile done bust its wheel,
And the Joker takes ballet!

I know the done-busting is my own embellishment, but I swear we all knew of the Joker's fancy-dancing activities when we were in elementary school.

Anyway, later they sing Do They Know It's Christmastime, which I am probably a bad person for rewriting.

And then they sing Deck The Stills which is just "Deck The Halls" with all the words replaced by "Crosby, Stills, Nash, And Young." I'm going to be listening to this in July and people will look at me funny because it won't be anywhere near the holidays.
