California's Anti-Vulcan Bias

From Steven Totilo's quote roundup of the EMA vs. California SCOTUS case:

Sotomayor: Would a video game that portrayed a Vulcan as opposed to a human being, being maimed and tortured, would that be covered by the act?

Morazzini: No, it wouldn't, Your Honor, because the act is only directed towards the range of options that are able to be inflicted on a human being.

They go on to talk about robots, but the point is clear: California only cares about human beings. They don't give a shit if you rip up a Vulcan, Klingon, Hutt, Twi'lek, or any sort of android or ghoul. All of those are considered "sub-human" regardless of sentience or capability. And that, my universe-loving friends, is called xenophobia.

Don't let video games become District 9, Supreme Court.
